I Know you want it. How about you buy it?

Just Married: Ali & Alex

I think this is the 5th wedding I’ve shot. Why? Well, Weddings aren’t my cup of coffee but there’s always an exception right?

So how did I end up here?

I got an email from Keeler (Bride’s Sister In Law) asking if I would be keen on shooting Ali’s (Bride) wedding. I was tad shook when I found out she’s one of my followers on Instagram. Who’d have ever thought? Remember the exception part? Two things that made me say yes,

1. It was a destination wedding.

2. Confession: I stalked Ali on the gram and after I saw she has tattoos, that sealed it. I find myself drawn to inked hoomans. Curiosity I’d say. Would I have said no if she didn’t? I still have no idea.

So off to Maasai Mara we go. Got there a day before. The plan was to meet the two love birds, get to see the location & chilling. Let’s fast forward to D-Day. It’s around 2PM, time for everyone to go start getting all ready and all. Was with Ali’s mum when the skies opened & it started drizzling.

“The clouds are getting darker. Do you think it’ll stop raining?” Ali’s mum asks with panic written all over her face.

“They are just passing rains. Good thing there’s wind, so that helps to scatter the clouds. Plus It’s a sign of blessings” I tell her. The voices in my head burst out in laughter. “our man’s a weather man now.”

Did I mention I was a lone squirrel running up and down? Well, Just a bit. After I was done with the groom. I went to shoot the bride.

So stress levels are low, mother nature has decided to favor us. Happy dance. Done shooting the prep session. Next stop is the ball room. Well not really, okay it’s the wedding venue. All this time I was whispering a prayer.

“Dear Lord, let not the skies open. I’m not ready to lose another camera ” yep I’ve lost a Sony body thanks to it not being weather tight. So yeah.

Get to the venue and It’s All smiles. I think I was the only one worried about the weather.

Did it rain? What next? Did TJ get eaten by a Lion? Okay let’s not get carried away. I’m still here to stay guys. But yes, the skies opened up it started drizzling. But that didn’t stop no one. THE SHOW MUST GO ON. I mean, the haven’t even said their vows. So let’s say it was your wedding and it was raining heavy. Would you call it off?

So my worst nightmare is happening. Should I pack my gear? If I pack my gear yes I save it but what about capturing the special moments? Torn between worlds.

Forget about Kissing under the mistletoe.

We had to seek refuge in the cars. Did my cameras make it through? I bet y’all don’t even care. It’s okay though, they pulled through. got wet but we still alive. It stopped raining. Few more shots? Why not

And just when I thought the show is over, the sun came out to play. My fav moment

  1. One hellaa adventure wedding shoot. The pics are amazing as always but i think it’s the story line that makes them more interesting. More stories like this please bless

  2. You look at wedding pics and get so tired. It’s the same shots. Same theme. Same decor. Everything is the same except the couple. And even they always look tired and anxious AF. This though… this is the most beautiful wedding I’ve ever seen. The pictures are divine. Oh these tears of joy.

    • I am beyond words Diana. I really appreciate it. But I must thank the couple for giving me the freedom to be me.

  3. You are a great photographer to be honest. And it helps that it wasn’t a contemporary wedding. So everything looks super cool.

  4. Your work is amazing ! Don’t mind me I’m just leaving to go back and stalk your Instagram until I die. Carry on
